The following Guide presents and explains the Copyright Law of the United States. It is important ethically and legally that the University observe and adhere to these copyright laws.
Introduction
The purpose of this guide is to provide information and resources for the students, faculty, and staff, at Huntington University to enable them to comply with the Copyright Law of the United States, Title 17 of the U.S. Code.
While copyright issues can be complex, everyone needs to understand the basics. Failure to comply with copyright law can lead to substantial legal penalties for both you and the university.
Why should I care about copyright?
While the articles posted on this guide (box to the right) seem to indicate that copyright laws are becoming more relaxed (or less enforced) we should continue to abide by the laws.
